What is bamboo?

Strong, flexible and one of the world's fastest growing plants – bamboo has many uses that make it an excellent renewable material. It’s a type of grass and usually grows without the need for fertilizers or irrigation. After being harvested, it grows new shoots that are ready for harvesting after 4-6 years. At IKEA we use bamboo for items like furniture, bathroom decor, baskets and lamps – and we are constantly exploring more areas of use for this versatile material.

With the help of craftsmen from Vietnam and Indonesia, we've transformed fast-growing bamboo into decorative shapes for the contemporary home. SALUDING is a family of handmade baskets that fit almost any room. Perfect if you want to create a relaxed spa-feeling or simply like the combination of smart function and a beautiful design.

Care instructions

Basket

Bamboo is happiest in dry, cool environments with an even temperature.
You can have the basket in the bathroom, but avoid soaking the bamboo, instead wipe it with a clean, dry cloth.

Lining

Machine wash, max 40°C, normal process.
Do not bleach.
Do not tumble dry.
Iron, max 150°C.
Do not dryclean.
