We have serving dishes, serving plates and bowls in glass and ceramics. Perfect if you want to cook the food and serve it from the same bowl or dish. Both materials withstand heat and cold - but like all ovenware, they are sensitive to drastic changes in temperature and risk cracking. That's why you should never transfer them directly from a hot oven to a cold surface. Bon appetite!
Glass is a material that offers endless possibilities - whether it's mouth-blown or machine made. Glass consists mostly of sand, mixed with soda and limestone. For heat-resistant, oven-safe glass, borosilicate is also added. Glass may be decorated by adding colour to the molten glass, by grinding, blasting or engraving a pattern into the glass. A print may also be fired into the glass. Nothing is impossible.
Borosilicate glass can handle conditions that are a bit too tough for ordinary household glass. It’s very impact and scratch resistant and withstands rapid temperature changes, allowing you to take it directly from the freezer to the oven – or vice versa. And if it somehow breaks, it shatters into large pieces with less risk of someone getting hurt. Simply a tougher type of glass.
Glass is mainly made of sand, soda and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.
