Healthy and Sustainable Living

Water and Energy-Saving Products

LED bulbs can save up to 85% of electricity compared to traditional bulbs and have a lifespan of up to 20 times longer. Can you imagine that? By spending $89 on purchasing a pack of two bulbs, you can save $85 in electricity bills per bulb every month! Not only will it save your wallet, but it will also help protect the environment. IKEA has also introduced many sustainable products, including solar-powered lights. Come and check out more sustainable goods at https://reurl.cc/ZW8Ee6.

Save Water and Energy, Get IKEA Vouchers

With the rainy season being shorter and frequent droughts or water shortages becoming the norm in the southern region, besides using water-saving products such as showerheads and faucets that can save 30% water, the amount of energy and water saved can also be exchanged for IKEA shopping vouchers at the IKEA Kaohsiung store! Since 2019, over a thousand people have responded, saving at least 200,000 kWh of electricity and 1310,000 liters of water. Haven't filled out the questionnaire yet? Water-saving Facilities

With deep roots in Kaohsiung for many years, we continuously adopt new equipment and make efforts each year to save water. As a result, we have been honored with the Excellent Award for the implementation of water-saving guidance and improvements by the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

✔️ Bathroom renovation: All new fixtures are upgraded to water-saving certified models.
✔️ Replacing water-saving toilets/faucets: Saves up to 50% of water consumption.
✔️ Office renovation with waterless urinals: Saves 1.2 million bottles of 600cc water each year.
✔️ Replacing restaurant dishwashers: Reduced water consumption from 833 liters per hour to 280 liters.

Farewell to Food Waste

The sugar/creamer powder dispensers replace single-use sugar and creamer packets, allowing customers to take only what they need, reducing over 200,000 single-use packets annually. The 3F Swedish Restaurant also sells IKEA 365+ food containers, which has helped decrease food waste by approximately 200 kg since its implementation, ensuring zero food waste. Coffee grounds are given a second life, regularly processed into fertilizer and spread in surrounding flower beds, promoting circular reuse.

Circular Economy and Becoming Climate Positive

Enjoy Food by Collecting Points through Recycling

Since 2020, IKEA Kaohsiung has led Taiwan in hosting a recycling initiative, collecting over 560,000 PET bottles—enough to stack 198 Taipei 101 buildings. To date, 2,650 kg of old newspapers have been recycled, repurposed as packaging materials for customers on-site. This initiative has also resulted in the redemption of over 33,000 ice cream cones and 1,700 servings of meatballs/food items. Haven't filled out the questionnaire yet? ✔️ Replacement of restaurant dishwashers: Reduced electricity consumption from 90 kWh to 57.7 kWh.

Fair & Equal

People-Oriented Approach

For several consecutive years, IKEA Kaohsiung has partnered with a local rural women’s sewing organization, Tzu Chi Sewing, to repurpose discontinued sofa covers that can no longer be sold on-site. These covers are transformed into pencil cases, zipper pouches, drink bags, tote bags, pillowcases, and more, giving the materials a second life while supporting economic independence for women in rural areas. In 2023, customers were invited to sponsor charity food packages, which were distributed through the North and South Kaohsiung branches of the Family Support Foundation to over 1,000 families in need, ensuring that children who face food insecurity no longer have to confront hunger alone.

Promoting Technical Education in Rural Areas

In collaboration with the TSMC Charity Foundation, which has long been committed to rural education, we jointly promote corporate technical and vocational training programs. In the initial trial phase, with the support of our logistics partner, PSC Group, students from the National Jia-Dong Senior Agricultural Vocational School are invited to enter and receive training and internships, assisting them in acquiring professional skills and providing opportunities for impoverished students to escape poverty.
